Joseph

Joseph is another great example of never giving up! Joseph was raised by his mother and grandmother and had a very sheltered childhood. When both of his caretakers passed away suddenly, he needed to find a way to support himself and his brother. He withdrew from school, but ended up passing his GED and went to earn an Associate’s Degree. He was referred to Goodwill through the office of Vocational Rehab in Ashland, Kentucky in 2019. Shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic, Joseph completed a Person-Centered Employment Plan, but was unfortunately laid off when retail stores closed. When the stores reopened, Joseph was re-hired as a Retail Associate. Joseph has worked for Goodwill since, and is a very dedicated employee. He walks 2 miles one way to work, and completes his tasks efficiently. He loves talking to customers and strives to make everyone feel welcome in the store. His goal is to save up money for a car so he can complete the Driver’s Education Course.
