Who We Are.

About Us
Goodwill Industries of KYOWVA Area, Inc. began and continues in the heart of Huntington, West Virginia. Today, with 10 retail locations across West Virginia and Kentucky and a growing online store, our reach has expanded, but our purpose has never changed. We are here for people. For neighbors looking for a fresh start. For families working toward stability. For communities striving to grow stronger together.
Every day, we meet individuals facing barriers to employment and life challenges that can feel overwhelming. Our role is to walk alongside them, offering support, opportunity, and the tools needed to move forward with confidence. Through job training, education, and employment services, we help people build skills, regain independence, and discover what’s possible.
Our work extends far beyond employment. We offer financial literacy classes, credit counseling, and homebuyer education to help people build secure futures. We invest in recycling and sustainability programs that care for our environment, and we create meaningful work through industrial and janitorial contract services. We also bring people together through community enrichment events and outreach because connection matters.
None of this happens without the support of our community. Every donated item, every purchase made in our stores or online, helps fund these services. What may start as a simple donation or a great find on a shelf becomes something much bigger: a second chance, a new skill, a stronger family, or a renewed sense of hope.
At Goodwill of KYOWVA, we believe that when people are given the opportunity to succeed, entire communities are transformed. And that belief guides everything we do.
Our History
Rooted in Purpose. Growing Through Service.
Founded in 1973, Goodwill Industries of KYOWVA Area, Inc. began with one simple mission: to help people in need. Headquartered in Huntington, West Virginia, we’re a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals to overcome employment barriers and providing life-enriching tools that strengthen families and communities.
What started as a job placement program for individuals with disabilities has blossomed into a regional network of support. Today, we operate 10 retail stores, an online store, a full-service employment and training center, a recycling facility, and offer services like consumer credit counseling and mental health support.
The best part? Every purchase and donation fuels these life-changing programs. Revenue from our retail stores directly funds the mission services that help people transform their lives.
With locations in Huntington, Lavalette, Barboursville, and Milton in West Virginia—and Ashland, Cannonsburg, Grayson, and Louisa in Kentucky—we’ve proudly served our local communities for over 50 years. And we’re just getting started.
